Tasting Notes:
Given the unique nature of each of our hillside blocks along with the diversity of Chardonnay clones planted here, Paroa Bay produces a multitude of contrasting flavor profiles in each fruit parcel. We take full advantage of this in the winery and craft two completely different styles of Chardonnay. Windward is our powerful, rich and endearing flagship, and Leewood is its instantly appealing, lush, calm and refreshing alter ego.
Fruit for this wine is whole bunch pressed straight to a small squat steel vessel before being allowed to ferment spontaneously. The wine sits on yeast lees for ten months without malolactic fermentation. The wine is then stabilized before bottling.
Lime gold in colour. Freshly cut pineapple lifts out of the glass, shortly joined by sweet peach and white blossom. Subtle aromas of sea spray and dry hay evolve with time. The palate in well-rounded and refreshing with roasted apricot, honey toast and cream.
