The Villa

Set above the tranquil western shores of Lake Hāwea, where two glacial lakes meet at The Neck, Mt Isthmus Villa commands an unrivalled vantage point in the heart of New Zealand’s South Island. From every angle, the Villa captures sweeping views of crystalline waters, snow-dusted peaks, and vast high-country wilderness.

Inspired by the surrounding peaks and valleys, the four-bedroom Villa was conceived to exist in harmony with its alpine setting. Its lake-facing and rear façades echo the jagged mountains, while from above, the copper-clad roof flows like the contours of the river and land. Inside, expansive living spaces are framed by floor-to-ceiling windows. Polished concrete, considered interiors, and curated artworks reflect The Lindis Group’s signature approach — where architectural form and refined design frame nature at its most spectacular.

The Mt Isthmus experience continues in each bedroom featuring a private ensuite, luxury linens, and uninterrupted lake or mountain views. The Villa’s amenities include a chef’s kitchen, spacious indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, a spa pool, and a gas-burning pyramid fireplace — all complemented by direct access to hiking trails and the luxury of a hosted stay.

Architecture

Shaped by the surrounding topography, Mt Isthmus Villa is an architectural expression of the land itself — its jagged, mountain-inspired façades echoing the serrated ridgelines, while from above the copper-clad roof traces the path of a flowing river, mirroring the natural contours of the landscape.
