Experiences

The Bay of Islands is one of New Zealand's most iconic natural destinations. With 144 islands, vibrant marine life, and a subtropical climate, it invites coastal discovery at every turn. To complement your stay, we offer a curated selection of experiences, both with our premium partners and for self-guided discovery. From exploring the region by private yacht or helicopter, to discovering native bush tracks, local wines, and the charm of nearby Russell township, let us help you make the most of your time at Paroa Bay.

To ensure a seamless itinerary, we recommend pre-booking experiences ahead of your arrival. All experiences are subject to availability and weather conditions.

On the Water

Discover the Bay of Islands from the water with a private yacht charter. There are endless ways to explore: Kayak into quiet coves, snorkel among reef-dwelling fish, explore secluded beaches and untouched island tracks, or cast a line in waters teeming with snapper, kingfish, and trevally. Shared charter experiences are also available.

Scenic Flights

Experience the Bay of Islands from the sky, departing directly from our on-site helipad. Trace the contours of Cape Brett, soar above the famed Hole in the Rock, or head north to the sweeping Ninety Mile Beach. You can also take flight in a fixed-wing plane from Kerikeri Airport to explore the surrounding islands and area.

Cultural Discovery

Wander the historic streets of nearby Russell, where colonial architecture and Māori heritage meet. A short ferry ride to Paihia leads you to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds — one of Aotearoa’s most significant cultural landmarks. Here, the stories of New Zealand’s founding unfold in a setting as beautiful as it is important. Tours and entry run daily.

Adventures on Land

With plenty to explore on foot, hike native bush tracks, stroll coastal walkways, take in panoramic ocean views, browse shops, cafes, and galleries in Russell and Paihia. The Bay of Islands also hosts two 18-hole golf courses, perfect for a scenic round.
