HORSE RIDING
Signature Experience

HORSE RIDING
Signature Experience

With a 14-bay stables, 12 horses and 1 foal on site, trek across high country farm land with breath taking views of Ben Avon station and the surrounding Ahuriri Valley.

We have 3 treks available, each catered to different riding levels

Birch Stream - Beginner (1-hour)

Leaving from the stables, you will head down to our historic woolshed taking in views of the Ben Avon dam. You will then trek down across Birch Stream – this involves a couple of river crossing & easy riding before heading back to the stables.

Beech Forest - Intermediate (2-hour)

One of our most picturesque trekking options. Leaving from the stables head uphill through New Zealand native beech forest, ending up in beautiful sub alpine herb fields.

Amphitheater - Advanced (3-hour)

Leaving from the stables, you will ride along the Ben Avon dam and through the paddocks surrounding the Lindis before reaching the Amphitheater, an impressive rock formation shaped over the years. You will then ride back to the stables following the river edge or decide to be dropped directly at the Lodge.
